What Training Camp Looks Like
Training Camp gives dogs a more structured and productive experience than regular daycare. During their time with Todd, dogs rotate through short training sessions, enrichment activities, and decompression breaks. Instead of spending the entire session in constant motion or group play, they get a more balanced day built around their needs.
Some of the training simply gives dogs a meaningful way to use their brain. This may include basic obedience skills, training games, trick training, or other activities that help build focus and keep them mentally involved.
For dogs already working toward a specific goal with Coach Wags, Training Camp can also support that plan. Todd may use part of the session to practice skills tied to the dog’s current training or behavior goals.
Because each dog comes in with different needs, Training Camp can look a little different from one dog to the next. One dog may benefit most from mental stimulation and productive outlets during the day. Another may use part of the session to keep building on skills Todd is already working on through private training or behavior support.
Overall, Training Camp gives dogs a more complete and purposeful experience than activity or group play alone.

What Training Camp May Include
Every dog is different. Todd adjusts each Training Camp session based on the dog’s energy level, training goals, personality, and what they can enjoy and handle successfully that day.
Depending on the dog, sessions may include a mix of:
- obedience and skill-building exercises
- practice connected to current training goals
- focus and engagement work
- training games and problem-solving activities
- confidence-building exercises
- enrichment and scent-based activities
- structured play and movement
- decompression walks and quiet relaxation time
Throughout the session, Todd changes activities to keep the dogs engaged without pushing them from one thing to the next. He also builds in chances to slow down, settle, and reset when needed.
The goal is to create a balanced, one-on-one experience that fits the dog in front of him.
Why Training, Enrichment, and Decompression Work Together
Many dogs need more than exercise alone. They also benefit from chances to use their brain, work through healthy outlets for energy, and then slow down and reset. That is why each Training Camp session combines training, enrichment, and decompression. Each part serves a different purpose. Together, they help create a more balanced and well-rounded experience for the dog.
Training Gives Dogs a Job to Do
Training gives dogs something meaningful to focus on during their session. Depending on the dog, this may include obedience practice, training games, simple tricks, or skills from an existing Coach Wags training plan. This gives dogs a clearer direction and a productive way to use their brain. The goal is to keep them mentally engaged, build focus, and give them a structured way to work with the person guiding them.
Enrichment Gives Dogs Healthy Outlets
Enrichment gives dogs healthy ways to use both their body and minds. Depending on the dog, that may include nose games, DIY puzzles, fetch, tug, flirt pole play, or other activities chosen around what they enjoy and need. Through these activities, dogs get purposeful outlets to search, chase, tug, move, and problem-solve. As a result, the session stays engaging and fulfilling without keeping them in a constant state of excitement.
Decompression Helps Dogs Reset
Decompression keeps the session from turning into nonstop activity. Sniffy walks, Kongs, chew time, quiet rest, and time at the relaxation station give dogs chances to come back down between more active parts of the session. Dogs are not meant to stay switched on the entire time. They need opportunities to pause, settle, and reset before moving into what comes next.
When training, enrichment, and decompression work together, dogs get more than exercise, play, or training on its own. They stay engaged, work through healthy outlets, and still have time to slow down throughout the session. For owners, that means their dog receives thoughtful, one-on-one attention in a more balanced setting. The goal is to support better habits, healthy outlets, and a smoother transition back home.

Is Training Camp Right for Your Dog?
Training Camp may be a good fit for dogs who need more structure, guidance, and healthy outlets during the day. Rather than relying on a basic walk or time in a busy group setting, it combines purposeful training, enrichment, and decompression in one session.
Dogs benefit from chances to use their brain, engage with their environment, build skills, and take part in activities that feel meaningful. For some dogs, this may support specific training goals they are already working on with Coach Wags. For others, it may simply provide a more balanced and productive outlet during the day.
Training Camp may be a good fit for:
- adolescent dogs with busy minds and plenty of energy
- dogs who benefit from more structure and purposeful activities
- dogs already working with Coach Wags, who need added practice between sessions
- dogs who struggle with overarousal or have a hard time settling
- owners who want more for their dog than exercise or a basic group setting
- dogs who do better with one-on-one attention than in a large group environment
Every dog is different. Todd adjusts each session based on the dog’s needs, goals, personality, and what they can enjoy and handle successfully that day.
