About Todd Regan and Coach Wags Dog Training

Hey, I’m Todd

Coach Wags Dog Training is a professional dog training service built around helping owners work through real-life behavior challenges. I focus on practical training that carries over into everyday life, not just obedience in a controlled setting.

Most of the dogs I work with are not struggling with basic commands. They are jumping on people, pulling on walks, having trouble settling, getting overaroused, or not listening consistently. I also work with more complex behavior issues like reactivity, anxiety, and impulse control problems. My goal is to help dogs and owners function better together in everyday life, not just during a training session.

My training is rooted in positive reinforcement and a relationship-based approach, but it is also structured, clear, and focused on behavior that actually lasts. I look at the full picture, including your dog’s routine, environment, stress level, emotional state, and learning history, so the training plan is individualized, practical, and realistic to follow.

Before focusing fully on dog training, I worked in behavior support within Wisconsin public schools, where I supported youth and adults with developmental disabilities and emotional or behavioral challenges. That experience shaped the way I look at behavior. It taught me to look beyond the surface, pay attention to patterns, and understand how environment, stress, and unmet needs can all affect behavior.

I have always rooted for the underdog because, in a lot of ways, I was one growing up too. I think that is part of what drew me to behavior support work in the first place, and it is still part of what drives me now. I have always naturally connected with dogs, especially the ones that are misunderstood, overlooked, or written off too quickly.

Coach Wags is where those two parts of me come together. It brings together my love for dogs and my background in behavior support to help owners better understand their dogs and create real change. This is not a one-size-fits-all approach. The focus is on building better habits, clearer communication, and more consistent behavior in the situations that matter most. The end goal is simple: a calmer, more manageable dog and a better day-to-day experience living together.

Why Choose Us

A Relationship-Based Approach

At Coach Wags, I do not believe in one-size-fits-all training. Real progress starts with understanding the dog in front of you, not just correcting the behavior you want gone. I look at the full picture, including temperament, history, emotional state, environment, and the dog’s day-to-day life at home. I also take your goals, lifestyle, and what is realistically sustainable into account, so the training plan is not just effective, but practical to live with. The result is a relationship-based approach that creates clearer communication, better behavior, and progress that holds up in real life.

Real Life Training with Individualized Support

Private training gives your dog the advantage of learning in the environment where behavior actually happens. Working in the home and neighborhood allows training to be more focused, more practical, and better matched to your dog’s specific needs and your real-life goals. Instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all approach, each lesson is tailored to what matters most to you, which often leads to faster learning, more useful practice, and progress that carries over into daily life.

Signature Day Camp

Day Camp is one of Coach Wags’ standout services because it is designed to do more than burn off energy. Each session follows a structured plan that includes one-on-one training, decompression, and enrichment based on the dog’s individual needs. This approach allows dogs to learn, reset, and engage in ways that support better behavior, healthier outlets, and a more balanced state of mind. For owners, Day Camp offers a more personalized alternative to traditional daycare, combining purposeful care, professional training, and real-world support that carries over into life at home.
